Online check-in is available from 24 hours to one hour before departure. Mobile check-in is also available for the same period on flights departing from airports including London Heathrow and Brussels.

Check-in via check-in desks at the airport is also available. The airline states that short-haul b.light Economy Class passengers should aim to check in no later than 70 minutes before departure and b.flex Economy Class passengers should check in no later than 50 minutes before departure. On medium-haul flights to Tel Aviv, Economy Class passengers should check in at least 50 minutes before departure, and those with long-haul Economy Class tickets should check in at least 70 minutes before departure.

Hand luggage: at no extra cost, long-haul Economy Class passengers may bring one item of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 10kg (22lb). Short-haul b.light passengers may bring one item weighing up to 6kg (13lb) and b.flex passengers are allowed one item of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 12kg (26lb). Each item of hand luggage must not have dimensions larger than 55 x 40 x 23cm (21 x 17 x 9in). 

Checked: long-haul Economy Class passengers are allowed up to two free pieces of checked luggage, with a total maximum weight of 46kg (101lb) and a maximum weight of 23kg (50lb) per item. Short-haul passengers in b.light and b.flex Economy, meanwhile, are allowed one item of checked luggage up to 20kg (44lb) in weight. 

Excess: rates are up to 20 per cent cheaper if pre-booked rather than applied at the airport. For example, on Economy Class flights within Europe, excess is charged at a rate of €10 per kg (€10 per 2.20lb) online or at a rate of €12 per kg (€12 per 2.20) at the airport. Between Tel Aviv and Europe, rates rise to €12 per kg online and €15 per kg. On Africa routes, rates are calculated according to the piece concept, with each extra item of luggage weighing up to 23kg (50.70lb) charged at €200 online and €250 at the airport. Oversized items are also subject to fees.

Seats are assigned during the check-in process. Seat assignment may not be available in b.light and other Economy Class flights to Tel Aviv, Moscow, and Helsinki.

Child fares are not available from Brussels Airlines. Infant fares (for children up to two years of age) are available at around 10 per cent of the adult fare.

Brussels Airlines does not offer discounts for older travellers.

Travelling with pets is subject to availability, and the airline must be notified at the time of reservation. Service animals such as guide dogs travel free of charge. Small domestic animals including dogs and cats, which weigh less than 6kg (lb) including their travel container may travel in the cabin. These are charged at rates of €30 each way on short-haul flights and €60 each way on medium and long-haul flights. Larger animals or species that do not qualify for cabin travel (e.g. birds, fish and rodents) must travel in the hold. These are charged at rates of €70 each way for short-haul flights and €140 each way for medium and long-haul. Brussels Airlines will not carry pets in the cabin on flights to the United Kingdom, although service animals are allowed on flights originating or departing from Birmingham.

Small musical instruments may be carried as part of your hand luggage allowance if they fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead locker. A passenger travelling with a large musical instrument may buy a seat for the item. Contact the airline to arrange this.

Passengers on long-haul flights can enjoy movies as well as audio entertainment. In terms of in-flight catering, b.flex passengers are given free meals and drinks whereas short-haul b.light passengers have the option of purchasing a range of food and refreshments. Food and drink is provided free to all Economy Class passengers on flights to Moscow and all medium and long-haul destinations however.
