Ukraine International Airlines Check-in

Airport check-in desks are open between two hours and 40 minutes before departure, except in Madrid, Dubai and Abu Dhabi where they open three hours before departure and close an hour before.

Online check-in is available at airports in destinations such as London, Almaty, Donetsk, Kiev, Lviv, Odessa and elsewhere. You may check in online between 24 hours and one hour before departure.

Ukraine International Airlines baggage allowance

Hand luggage: Economy-Class passengers are allowed one item of carry-on luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg (15lbs) and dimensions not exceeding 50 x 40 x 20cm (20 x 16 x 8in). In Business Class, this maximum weight rises to 10kg (22lbs). 

Checked: Economy-Class passengers on all flights except those to the USA/Canada are allowed up to 20kg (44lbs) of free checked baggage and Business-Class passengers are allowed up to 40kg (88lbs). On flights to US/Canadian territories operated by its partners, Economy Class passengers are allowed one free piece of checked luggage weighing up to 23kg (50lb) with the sum of its dimensions not greater than 158cm (62in). Business-Class passengers on such flights are allowed up to two pieces of checked luggage, with the weight of each item not exceeding 32kg (70lbs) and the sum of any item’s dimensions not greater than 158cm (62in).

Economy Passengers have a seat pitch of 76cm (30in) and Business-Class passengers have a seat pitch of 86.4cm (34in).

Passenger change details

Whether changes can be made to your reservation and if a fee applies will depend upon your fare conditions. The airline asks that it is notified of any changes you wish to make at least 24 hours before the flight. Contact UIA for more specific information.

Child fares

One infant under two years of age per adult passenger may travel on the passenger’s lap for a charge of around 10 per cent of the corresponding adult fare. Only passengers aged 16 and over may carry the infant. Buggies are transported free of charge. Contact the airport in advance to make arrangements. Seats must be booked at the adult rate for children above the age of two.

UIA does not offer discounts for older travellers.

Pets

Small domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits may travel in the cabin, provided that they are crated and that the maximum combined weight of animal and container is not more than 5kg (11lbs) and the sum of its dimensions is not greater than 115cm (45in). The container must be held by the passenger or be able to fit under the seat in front. One container per passenger is allowed, but two animals may be carried in the same one if the weight limit is not exceeded. Animals transported in the cabin are subject to excess baggage charges. Larger animals must be transported in the hold. A maximum of two animals of roughly the same size weighing up to 14kg (30lbs) each may be transported in the same container. Service animals of any size or weight may be carried free of charge in the cabin, provided they are harnessed and muzzled.

Carrying musical instruments

UIA states that fragile and/or valuable musical instruments are unsuitable to be carried as checked luggage and may be carried as cabin baggage if within size and weight limits. Extra charges may apply if you wish to transport larger musical instruments. Contact the airline for more specific information.

In-flight service

Aside from its in-flight magazine, UIA provides no in-flight entertainment. Economy Class passengers will be provided with a free snack on shorter flights and a meal on longer ones. Tea, coffee and other drinks will also be served.

Air miles

Panorama Club. Miles are collected at a rate of 50% of actual miles flown on Economy Class flights in fare categories M, G, N, P and T; and at a rate of 100% in categories S, Y, B, K, L, E, O R, W, H V and Q. Miles can be spent on UIA flights and upgrades as well as flights with partner airlines.

Membership tiers are temporary (up to 3,000 miles), Classic (less than 20,000 miles) and Premium (20,000 miles or more). Classic status benefits include an extra 5kg (11lb) of checked baggage on UIA flights and discounts in various partner hotels, restaurants and car rental companies. Premium benefits include use of UIA’s Business Class check-in desk and lounge, an extra 10kg (22lb) of checked baggage allowance, and further discounts with partner companies.

Panorama is the name of UIA’s in-flight magazine. It is published in both Ukrainian and English and contains a wide range of travel and lifestyle content.

Airline alliances

UIA is not a member of any of the major airline alliances. However, it has partnerships with several carriers including Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, bmi, Brussels Airlines, Etihad Airways, Iberia, KLM, Swiss International Air Lines and TAP Portugal.
